Apa paramater penentu seorang pemimpin?

Menurut Peter F. Drucker, “Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.” Hal itu intinya berarti kepemimpinan yang efektif bukan mengenai bagaimana pandainya seseorang berbicara atau bagaimana ia disukai oleh bawahan, melainkan kepemimpinan itu bagaimana hasil yang dicapai. 

Untuk mencapai hasil yang merupakan tujuan dari suatu proyek dalam perusahaan, memang ada satu hal yang perlu dilakukan dan menuntut ketegasan dari seorang pemimpin, yaitu proses eksekusi. Proses eksekusi memang merupakan proses yang paling berat, tetapi disitulah memperlihatkan dari kualitas seorang pemimpin. Terkadang seorang pemimpin suka memberi kata-kata penyemangat atau membuat ribuan planning, tetapi itu semua sama saja jika tidak mencapai hasil atau tujuannya dan semuanya akan menjadi planning belaka yang mengambang jika seorang pemimpin tidak setia dalam proses eksekusi.

Seorang pemimpin yang berkualitas adalah seorang yang tangguh dan setia untu merealisasikan planning dan rencananyanya sampai mencapai realisasi dan sesuai dengan tujuan perusahaan. Memang dia harus mampu mempengaruhi orang lain degan kata-katanya dan sudah pasti harus disegani karena ketegasannya. Tetapi jangan lupa, hasil akhir yang baik dari keseluruhan rencana memperlihatkan kualitas seorang pemimpin yang baik. Jadi, di dalam kepemimpinan, jangan hanya mentok di rencana atau wacana saja, karena sebagus apapun rencana, jika tidak ada hasil akhirnya, maka hal itu akan terlihat mengambang. Seorang pemimpin harus setia sampai proses eksekusi karena hasil akhir adalah hal yang menentukan kualitas seorang pemimpin.

Manajemen vs Leadership

Manajemen lebih banyak bersandar pada keahlian merencanakan, mengorganisir dan berkomunikasi.

Sementara,

Leadership tidak hanya bersandar pada kemampuan manajerial, tetapi juga pada integritas, kejujuran, kerendahan hati, komitmen, kebijaksanaan dan keyakinan.

Beberapa orang dilahirkan secara alami dengan sifat – sifat ini. Namun demikian, siapa pun yang ingin menjadi pemimpin, tentu saja harus mengembangkan kemampuan leadership-nya terlebih dahulu. Gabungan antara keduanya dapat mewujudkan model kepemimpin yang ideal.
